Completed projects: 

Centennial United Church (Stayner, ON)

Received a grant to replace a gas furnace with a high-efficiency energy star rated unit; replace commercial dishwasher; replace gas hot water heater with an energy star rated gas hot water heater; replace a chest freezer with an energy star rated upright freezer; install a heat pump in two office spaces; install industrial fans in sanctuary, narthex and hall; install LED bulbs; insulate attic spaces; seal hatches and insulate the joists in basement sealing vents; replace front doors on the sanctuary.

Eden United Church (Mississauga, ON)

Received a grant to partially replace sanctuary air conditioning units.

Islington United (Toronto, ON)

Received a grant to replace 24 clerestory windows units.

Robertson Memorial United Church (Naskup, BC)

Received a grant to replace its oil furnace with an efficient heat pump; upgrade electrical systems; install LED lighting; add insulation and replace an outdated hot water tank.

Spring Park United Church (Charlottetown, PE)

Received a grant to install ductless mini-split heat pumps in the sanctuary; replace fluorescent and incandescent fixtures across the building with LEDs; and replace sealed glass units in exterior doors.

Trinity United Church (Vernon, BC)

Received a grant to install a heat pump and upgrade HVAC system for all of our administration offices; including drywall replacement and painting.

Project energy results: 

Arden United Church (Arden, ON)

Received a grant to replace windows and ceiling fans; upgrade electrical panel; and replace an oil furnace and oil tank with a heat pump system. A year following their projects, Arden United reduced its source energy use intensity by 6.1%, total GHG emissions by 88.1%, total GHG emission intensity by 88.2%, and energy costs by 7.1%.

First United Church (Vermilion, AB)

Received a grant to air seal doors and windows; replace fluorescent lights with LED lighting in Building B; upgrade furnaces with new napoleon ENERYSTAR furnaces; replace two 40 gal hot water heating systems with a 6 gal electric water heater; replace windows; remove windows to replace with insulated walls; and install an insulated door. A year following their projects, First United reduced its source energy use intensity by 12.1%, total GHG emissions by 14.3%, total GHG emission intensity by 14.3%, and natural gas usage 13.3%.

Lemonville United Church (Stoufville, ON)

Received a grant to replace an oil-fired furnace with a heat pump system; upgrade electric system; replace ceiling fans in sanctuary; and replace lights with LEDs. A year following their projects, Lemonville United reduced its source energy use intensity by 16.5%, total GHG emissions by 88.1%, total GHG emission intensity by 88.2%, and energy costs by 16.8%.

Palgrave United Church (Palgrave, ON)

Received a grant to replace a furnace; install air conditioning; install an Ecobee thermostat; replace 42 light fixtures with LEDs; replace 3 ceiling fans; replace 9 receptacles; increase attic insulation to R60. A year following their projects, Palgrave United reduced its source energy use intensity by 20.9%, total GHG emissions by 53.0%, total GHG emission intensity by 52.8%, and natural gas usage by 60.7%.

Rennie’s United Church (Hinchenbrooke, QC)

Received a grant to replace the existing ceiling fans with new energy efficient fans with reversible blades and LED lights; remove old furnace and install new electric furnace and heatpump; and insulate attic. A year following their projects, Rennie’s United reduced its source energy use intensity by 37.5%, total GHG emissions by 99.5%, total GHG emission intensity by 100%, and energy costs by 55.2%.

Riverview United Church (Elmsdale, NS)

Received a grant to replace an oil furnace and tank with heat pumps; replace fluorescent lights with LEDs; and replace freezers and overhead fans. A year following their projects, Riverview United reduced its source energy use intensity by 49.1%, total GHG emissions by 44.6%, total GHG emission intensity by 44.8%, energy costs by 42.3%, and electricity usage by single 17.7%.

Southwood United Church (Calgary, AB)

Received a grant in support of the replacement of rooftop HVAC units; and the installation of nine smart thermostats. A year following their projects, Southwood United reduced its source energy use intensity by 28.6%, total GHG emissions by 48.3%, total GHG emission intensity by 48.3%, electricity usage by 50.3%, and natural gas usage by 21.9%.

St. Paul’s United Church (Stirling, ON)

Received a grant to replace a furnace in its office with a heat pump; replace four non-reversible ceiling fans in its sanctuary with reversible options; replace two refrigerators, two freezers, and a dishwasher; replace incandescent and compact fluorescent light bulbs with LEDs; as well as caulk and weather-strip air leaks around its building. A year following their projects, St. Paul’s United reduced its source energy use intensity by 16.1%, total GHG emissions by 30.5%, total GHG emission intensity by 30.3%, and natural gas usage by 34.1%.

St. Peter’s United Church (St Peter's, NS)

Received a grant to upgrade its electrical panel; ensure surge projection for the building; install two heat pumps; install a commercial ceiling fan; add additional plugs; replace twelve windows; and replace front doors with steel frame with full glass cathedral. A year following their projects, St. Peter’s United reduced its source energy use intensity by 43.1%, total GHG emissions by 37.9%, total GHG emission intensity by 38.1%, energy costs by 29.3%, oil usage from a single source 66.5%.

Trillium United Church (Cambridge, ON)

Received a grant to conduct an energy audit; install an energy efficiency LED sign; replace a freezer. A year following their projects, Trillium United reduced its source energy use intensity by 19.4.%, total GHG emissions by 24.8%, total GHG emission intensity by 24.8%, and natural energy usage by 28.4%.
